Changeis partnered with a large aviation regulatory agency to support their supply chain and logistics modernization efforts. The agency sought a simple, efficient, and reliable solution for managing systems that support the National Airspace System (NAS). Changeis provided a comprehensive range of services, including program management, software engineering support, information security support, system authorization and integration, software testing and evaluation, implementation, training, and in-service management.
The main objective was to implement the agency’s asset management ERP solution, into a cloud-based environment to leverage the benefits of scalability, reliability, accessibility, and security provided by the cloud. Changeis developed a detailed plan and process to migrate the entirety of the ERP solution to the cloud, while also supporting ongoing software engineering efforts to enhance their logistics center, Configuration Management Automation (CMA), and Business Intelligence functionalities.
Working in collaboration with AWS, Changeis utilized various AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lake Formation, and Athena, among others. Additionally, modern software architecture tools like RedHat OpenShift, Github, Atlantis, and Liquibase were incorporated into the solution. This combination allowed Changeis to create an industry-first cloud self-managed solution for IFS at the regulatory agency.
The results of this modernization effort were impressive. The solution delivered significant benefits, including over 3,000-man hours saved annually, resulting in approximately $1.2 million in cost savings per year. The migration to the cloud improved the overall security posture of the agency’s supply chain and logistics processes. The cloud environment provided the ability to scale the solution according to evolving needs, while enabling faster development and delivery of software and solution updates. Notably, the solution also continued to support legacy and on-premises applications, ensuring a smooth transition for the agency.
